The compliance process under the Building Code encompasses two main streams: the Deemed to Satisfy Solution (DtS) and the Performance Solution.
- Deemed to Satisfy Solution (DtS)
- Performance Solution
BCA Section J report (Deemed to Satisfy)
The NCC Section J report, often referred to as the Deemed to Satisfy provisions, provides a structured pathway to compliance. Think of it as a recipe book without specific ingredient or quantities. LittleShrub's experts carefully analyse your specific project requirements, ensuring each component meets or exceeds the minimum performance levels required. For instance, you may know the quantities you'll need, but not necessarily the exact performance specifications. It's our job to calculate the necessary performance levels for insulation, glazing, and other elements, tailored to your unique circumstances. This ensures compliance while considering any constraints you may have, all while striving for the most cost-effective solution.
JV3 (Performance Solution)
JV3 is a detailed computer simulation of a building's energy consumption. While it requires more time and consideration than a Section J Report, it offers significantly more flexibility in achieving compliance. This approach is particularly beneficial for renovations or projects where Section J Reports may be impractical due to cost considerations.
Selecting the right approach
At LittleShrub, we collaborate closely with our clients to determine the most suitable compliance pathway for each project. Whether it's a traditional Section J Report or a JV3 assessment, our goal is to ensure that energy efficiency goals are met efficiently and cost-effectively, providing a customised solution tailored to the unique needs of your project.
